Project Overview
PIXELIED, a no-code design tool inspired by Canva, was a transformative project aimed at revolutionizing the digital design landscape. When I joined the team, the MVP was live with an active user base of around 350K. My role was to elevate the user experience, streamline design processes, and expand the product’s capabilities.
Establishing a Unified Design System
When I started, the design assets were fragmented across multiple Figma files with no cohesive design system in place. Recognizing the need for consistency, I created a comprehensive design system. This system served as a foundation for all future designs, ensuring a unified brand identity and improving efficiency across the team.
Key Impact: Enhanced design consistency, streamlined workflow, and facilitated quicker design iterations.
Revamping the User Experience
I undertook a major revamp of PIXELIED’s landing pages and developed a detailed knowledge base. This was crucial for new users to understand and utilize the product effectively.
Key Impact: Improved user onboarding experience, leading to increased user satisfaction and engagement.
Comprehensive Product Redesign
A significant part of my role involved re-designing the entire product interface. This included a complete overhaul of the product dashboards and the editor space, focusing on making the design more intuitive and user-friendly.
Key Impact: Enhanced user experience, resulting in increased user retention and satisfaction.
Expanding Product Features
To keep PIXELIED competitive, I introduced several new features. These included AI-powered image creation similar to DALL-E and MidJourney, workspace management for better project organization, and a mockup tool for quick design prototypes.
Key Impact: Expanded functionality, making PIXELIED a more versatile tool, which attracted a wider user base.
Adding Valuable Tools
I added additional tools such as passport image generation, an SVG generator, and a background remover to the product suite. These tools provided users with more creative flexibility and utility.
Key Impact: Increased the product's value proposition, leading to higher user engagement.
Ensuring Mobile Responsiveness
To cater to a diverse user base, I ensured that the new dashboard and editor designs were fully responsive. This allowed users to seamlessly work on their projects across various devices.
Key Impact: Improved user accessibility and convenience, significantly enhancing the overall user experience.
Outcome and Success Metrics
Through these enhancements, PIXELIED’s user base grew from 350K to over 1 million active users. The re-designs and new features led to:
A 70% increase in user engagement.
A 60% reduction in user churn.
A 50% increase in new user acquisition.
Conclusion
My work on PIXELIED highlights my commitment to user-centric design, innovation, and problem-solving. Each enhancement was aimed at not only meeting but exceeding user expectations, resulting in a more robust, user-friendly, and widely adopted tool.
